Frequently Asked Questions

GENERAL QUESTIONS

  • We work with homeowners who want a thoughtful, elevated home and appreciate having a clear design direction. Most of our clients are busy professionals or families who want a trusted guide to help them make confident decisions and create a home that feels warm and grounded.

  • We lean toward warm modern interiors. Clean lines, natural textures, layered materials, and a collected feel that makes a home truly lived in. We tailor every project so it reflects your tastes rather than a template or trend.

Whether it’s eclectic, classic, or a blend of contemporary and vintage, our expertise lies in creating a polished yet livable home.

  • We primarily work with clients throughout the Portland metro area, including Lake Oswego, West Linn, Dunthorpe, the West Hills, and the close-in Eastside neighborhoods like Irvington, Eastmoreland, and Laurelhurst. We also take on a select number of projects throughout the United States when the fit and timing feel right.

SERVICES OVERVIEW

  • Our two main services are Signature Design Immersion and Full-Service Interior Design.

A Design Immersion is a focused, 1-3 day in-home session that brings clarity and direction to your project.

Full-Service Interior Design is a comprehensive design experience for both furnishings and renovation projects.

We also offer Office Hours, which is a private 60-minute Zoom consultation when you need just a bit of help.

  • Design Immersions are best for homeowners who want a focused, in-home design experience where we solve the right problems, make key decisions together, and create a clear direction for their project. It’s a luxury working session that brings clarity to the pieces that matter most.

Full-Service Design is for homeowners who want a complete, end-to-end experience. We create the full vision for your home, develop all furnishings and decor, and provide complete renovation design for your contractor to execute. We handle every detail on the furnishings side, including procurement and installation, so you can walk into a beautifully finished home without managing the process yourself.

We’d be happy to talk through your project. You can submit a brief inquiry to get the conversation started.

SIGNATURE DESIGN IMMERSION

  • We spend dedicated time together in your home walking through your space, talking through your goals, and understanding your priorities. I then design while in your space to provide you with expert recommendations for layout, furnishings, materials, color, and next steps so you can move forward confidently.

  • Every Immersion is different and based on the homeowner’s unique needs and priorities, but in general you receive an online personal design studio that contains all design choices, curated selections and any drawings or concept renderings that were done during the Immersion. Most clients feel a sense of relief and excitement because the path forward becomes very obvious and manageable.

FULL-SERVICE INTERIOR DESIGN

  • Full-Service design includes concept development, space planning, selections, and a complete design plan for furnishing, decor, or renovation projects. For renovations, we create the full design direction your contractor uses to execute the work. For furnishing and decor projects, we manage the entire process through installation and styling so your home feels fully complete.

WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN INVESTING IN YOUR HOME

  • Furnishing a home with a designer typically begins around $20,000 to $30,000+ per fully designed room, depending on size, quality, and the mix of furnishings. Larger homes, custom upholstery, window treatments, rugs, built-ins, or designer-quality pieces will increase the overall investment.

  • Interior renovation selections for kitchens, bathrooms, and multi-room projects are usually part of a larger investment beginning around $100,000, depending on layout changes, materials, and scope. For example, tile can be $3 per square foot or $40+.

  • We know that people hate the mystery of hourly billing and surprise invoices, so we structure our design fees as a flat fee paid in installments based on your particular scope of work. Every project is unique, so we begin each full service design project with an in-home consultation to develop the scope and calculate the fee based on how much time will be needed for each space. For design fees, you can expect to spend roughly $3,000-$5,000 per room.

  • Sometimes. If your project calls for a single room or a more modest furnishings budget, we may recommend a Design Immersion to create a thoughtful plan you can follow at your own pace. For multi-room or whole-home projects with larger investments, Full-Service Interior Design creates a cohesive, guided experience with furnishings, custom pieces, and renovation selections.

  • Design fees vary by scope, but most studios in Portland use a combination of clear flat fees and hourly design fees. Hourly rates can range widely, often between $120 and $400 per hour, depending on experience and level of service.

  • Interior design isn’t about finding someone to shop for you. It’s a partnership with someone who can understand how you live and help you make decisions that last. The right fit comes down to four things:

    • Scope — Different projects call for different types of professionals. Full-home furnishings and interior renovations pair well with an interior designer, while large structural changes or major additions may be best supported by a design-build firm with construction and architecture under one roof.

    • Process — A designer should offer a clear, thoughtful approach that protects your investment and makes decisions feel calm and intentional.

    • Personality — You’ll be working closely together throughout selections, revisions, and installation. Choose someone you feel relaxed communicating with.

    • Perspective — Look for a designer who asks deeper questions about your routines, lifestyle, and priorities.

A great designer helps you invest wisely, avoid costly mistakes, and create a home that feels grounded and personal over time. It’s less about shopping a style or cost, and more about finding someone you trust to guide the process in a way that matches your goals and the scale of your project.
